Dear Colleagues,

It is our great pleasure to invite you to join us at the 9th World Symposium on Lymphedema Surgery (9th WSLS), a hybrid meeting that will be held online on October 6th and at Auditori AXA, Barcelona on October 7th, 2020.

Inspired by the success of the previous International Meetings on Lymphedema Surgery, we are fortunate to have the opportunity to once again host the World Symposium on Lymphedema Surgery.

This 9th Symposium will consist of two days of lectures, video surgery transmissions and breakout sessions. Current techniques will be presented with a clear focus on searching evidence and providing reliable results. Controversy and cross-fire debates will be the major features of this meeting in order to get audience interactivity, to define practical consensus, and to promote critical assessment on the hot topics.

It is truly a special event to have so many world leaders in lymphedema surgery, lymphedema research, lymphatic education and lymphatic system imaging. Including, David Chang, Håkan Brorson, JP Hong, Isao Koshima, Takumi Yamamoto, Dhruv Singhal and many others, who will share their experiences in this field that we are all so passionate about.

.

Having so many national and international brilliant minds and years of experience all together, provides the potential for a truly enjoyable and rich educational experience.

Due to the COVID-19 prevention measures, we have changed the face-to-face day venue to a bigger auditorium, Auditori AXA, located at one of the best neighbourhoods in Barcelona.

The safety of our faculty and attendees is a clear priority for WSLS + BBM’s organizing committee.

After the COVID-19 crisis, we have learned that preventive measures are mandatory for a face-to-face event. For this reason, we have considered implementing several strategies to maintain a healthy environment for the 9th WSLS and BBM 2020:

  • COVID-19 testing (48h before the day of the meeting) would be required and a temperature control will be taken at the entrance
  • A mask and a bottle of hydro-alcoholic ice will be provided
  • A safety distance of 1.5m will be guaranteed in all the venue areas
  • Capacity is limited to 292 people, sited in alternate and preassigned seats
  • 2 resting areas will be available in order to divide the attendees into two independent groups and individual catering will be supplied
  • Cleaning services will be reinforced and the scenario will be disinfected after every session
  • And much more...

Yours sincerely,

D. Chang, M. H. Cheng, I. Koshima & J. Masià
